On the other hand, knowledge of mutual dreaming is limited.

A minimal number of people claim that they can experience mutual dreaming.

One of the famous movies depicted how mutual dreaming would make you feel. This movie’s name is Inception, and it came out in 2010. Leonardo DiCaprio starred in this film, and many viewers became impressed by the idea of mutual dreaming.

What is Mutual Dreaming?

Mutual dreaming is an idea one person can share their dreamscape with other people.

In simple words, according to this concept, two or more persons can share an environment of their dream.

Mutual dreams are different from ordinary dreams.

This is because the concept of mutual dreaming requires all the individuals to be on the same page to experience and share the same dream environment.

Have you watched the movie Avatar? This movie shows how mutual dreaming is possible when all the needed conditions are acquired.

All the characters in this film choose to experience a specific dream environment with each other.

Once the desired dream environment is reached, all these subjects communicate with each other, and they understand each other well too.

Similarly, mutual dreaming can be seen as a concept that can be experienced consciously in reality, all within a shared environment of the dream.

Hereby, in conscious reality, the subjects agree to meet or have a date in some particular place. Whereas in mutual dreaming, the same thing happens, but the place for the meeting is the dreamland.

Is Sharing the Same Dream Possible?

Many people would complain that we have do not have a stage where we can actually meet others in the space of dreams.

There are several instances where people experienced the encounters of other people in the dreams they watched.

You, too, might have shared same kind of dreams with the people who are closer to you.

But this cannot be called mutual dreaming. In many ways, the concept of mutual dreaming is similar to that of teleportation to a different dimension.

When during mutual dreaming, people dream, the theme of their dream is usually based on movies like Inception and Avatar.

There is always a link established technologically that helps different people to share the same environment of a dream.

An outside element is always present which makes mutual dreaming possible for people.

And this is why many believe that mutual dreaming is not achievable. It might be experienced well in the future, but for now this is a concept that requires clarity.

How Does Mutual Dreaming and Lucid Dreaming Connect?

It seems that the idea of mutual dreaming and lucid dreaming have a connection with each other.

Most likely, it is believed that dreamers should master the art of lucid dreaming to be able to fully experience mutual dreaming.

If you have got a lucid dream ever, then it will not take for you to agree that a dream is not always something that happens to any being by default.

While having a lucid dream, one has control over what they experience and do while dreaming.

Most likely, lucid dreaming is a predecessor to have experiences of mutual dreaming in the future.

Many people hope and believe that one day the idea of sharing the dream environment will become possible, and people will be able to experience it.

The people who practiced lucid dreaming and invested their time to learn techniques to get better at lucid dreaming might dream together more efficiently in comparison to the one who did not.

Types of Group Dreaming

The idea of experience mutual dreaming seems next to impossible in reality.

However, there might come a day where technology is so developed that it allows people to watch the same dreams.

However, this does not mean that people cannot experience dreams that are similar to mutual dreams.

A lot of people claimed to get a type of dreams which are known as meshing dreams.

The term ‘Meshing’ came from the idea of sharing specific elements in different dreams.

For example, you and your friend both watch Titanic together and at night, when you went to sleep, both of you watch a dream related to a sunken ship.

It is understandable that because you shared your active experience, this leads you to have similar dreams.

The other kind of shared dream is known as a meeting dream. Mutual dreaming is very relatable to the meeting dreams.

These are the types of dreams wherein two or more persons meet each other and talk while sharing a dream environment.

But is Mutual Dreaming Really Possible? If it is, How?

The definition of mutual dreams implies one of the two supernatural explanations.

Mutual Dreaming Experiments

Many dream experts believe that the concept of mutual dreaming is worth experimenting in the labs, and it is essential to test out the actual reality of the idea of shared dreams.

There are people who purposed the idea of a group dreaming experiment.

This experiment can prove to be useful to specify whether a dream world is really an alternative reality, or there is nothing of such sort.

Several group dream experiments and related anecdotes are published in previous years.

However, the knowledge about this concept is still found only in pieces and not as a whole.

How to Mutual Dream?

You can try to experience mutual dreaming yourself and know for yourself if it works or not.

Let us have a look at some mutual dreaming experiments that you can try at home.

These dreaming experiments can be performed in a lucid or non-lucid state.

Experiment 1 – Try Your Heads at Meshing Dreams

Find a partner who would like to experiment on dreams and is willing to experience a meshing dream.

The second step is to select an activity to perform together in the daytime. You can go to a music event together, go on a trip to hills, watch a film or go to a tourist place to visit.

At the end of the day when you go to bed, discuss your most memorable experiences with your dreaming partner.

Interact about the things that fascinated you, or you found to be attractive and form a base to have a mesh together with the intention of seeing similar things.

Most likely, both of you will have dreams about your active experiences, or you will see a dream that will be related to the theme of the activity you performed.

If you watch these dreams in a lucid state, it will be even better.

Try and find your meshing dream partner in your dream and attempt to have a lucid interaction with them.

Once you are awake, pen down the details that you saw in your dream. You can keep a notepad and a pen on your nightstand so that you can write down everything that you experienced while dreaming.

Then, you can compare your notes with the notes of your dreaming partner and evaluate how many things in your dreams match.

Remember not to influence the dream reports of each other or update your recollection so that you can fit in each other’s story.

If both of you remember having a conversation in your dream, look closely into the details of your dreams.

This will make a good example to set up a previously arranged mesh dream.

Experiment 2 – Try to Have Meeting Dreams

Similar to the meshing dreams, you have to find a partner for experimenting on meeting dreams as well.

If any of your friends have experienced lucid dreaming, ask them to experiment on meeting drams with you.

Your aim should be to have a lucid dream with each other on the same date at the same time.

Then, you have to choose a place where you would like to meet in the dream.

If both of you live nearby, you can decide to meet in a common area such as a town center or a park.

You can also choose to meet near a famous building or at a popular meeting spot such as the Eiffel Tower.

If both of you see the location that you have decided to meet in a lucid dream, it can turn out to be a meshing dream.

Therefore, make sure to have a conversation about something you have not talked to each other before.

You can also generate a code word to be able to remember your conversation.

After waking up, if both of you report the same discussion, you would know that you were in a mutual dream.

Of course, you can investigate further to be sure about it.
